    The Senior Associate Director of Academic Advancement will play a pivotal role in driving philanthropy for strategic academic and institutional fundraising priorities at the University of Notre Dame.

    Reporting to the Senior Director of Academic Advancement within the University’s Department of Development and serving as a trusted philanthropic liaison to the College of Arts and Letters, this position is responsible for driving significant philanthropic progress toward top fundraising priorities in the For Good Initiative. The College of Arts and Letters is the oldest college at Notre Dame and a cornerstone of its mission to be the world’s preeminent Catholic research university. Founded in 1842, the College is home to more than 500 faculty, 3,000 undergraduates, and 1,100 graduate students across 20 departments, centers, and institutes.

    In addition to supporting the College of Arts and Letters, this position includes management by leading a group of academic advancement directors in developing and implementing fundraising strategies and best practices for their colleges/units.

    The Senior Associate Director will be charged with developing strong working relationships both with the team of fundraisers and College of Arts and Letters faculty and staff to inspire transformative benefaction to accomplish the College’s ambitious strategic plan.

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Trusted Collaborator:
    Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with College of Arts and Letters leadership, University Relations team members, campus partners, and external stakeholders.
    Serve as the primary Development liaison to the College of Arts and Letters Advisory Council.
    With the Senior Director and Associate Vice President for Development, identify and implement best practices to meet an annual collaborative production goal for the College of Arts and Letters.
    Develop and maintain strong relationships with the fundraising team in order to effectively educate fundraisers and advance proposals for fundraising priorities.

    Priority Development and Communication:
    Using data-informed strategies and collaborating with the Dean of the College and other academic and administrative leaders, identify opportunities for philanthropy to the College’s priorities.
    Own the packaging and accuracy of priority pages and proposals to advance benefaction.
    Develop and support the implementation of innovative fundraiser education for the division’s fundraising priorities.

    Team Leadership and Development:
    Lead and mentor a team of three (3) Academic Advancement professionals.
    Foster a collaborative and inclusive team environment.
    Provide professional development opportunities and support for team members.

    Minimum Qualifications
    Bachelor’s degree
    5-6 years of professional work or academic experience
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Direct experience working toward stated metrics and goals
    Direct management experience
    Record of success in translating complex ideas into succinct, compelling messages
    Evidence of effective collaboration across teams with diverse interests, experiences, backgrounds, and goals
    Evidence of ability to influence and earn the trust of senior leadership to work with you to a shared goal
    Ability to think and plan strategically for both short and long term goals
    Ability to use Microsoft Office suite/Google collaboration suite, and to quickly assimilate to new technology
    A commitment to Catholic education and the mission and values of the University of Notre Dame, including a dedication to our beloved community.
    Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
    Preferred Qualifications
    Sales and/or brand management experience
    Knowledge of the role of philanthropy, especially in higher education
    Product development experience
    Masters or Doctoral degree
