Job Summary
Develops and administers academic and research programs by designing curriculum, negotiating contracts and program funding, solving related problems, and evaluating and redesigning programs that carry out the mission of the Division of the Physician Assistant Education and Sciences at the University of Utah. Develop strategies and goals to create projects offering the greatest impact to the Utah Physician Assistant Program. Determine short- and long-term project plans to meet organization goals. Assist the Faculty Director of Clinical Education. Represent the interests of the PA program both internally and externally to the organization. Manages staff, collaborates with departments and faculty to develop course and research programs. This position reports to the Director of Education, Student Advising & Activities.
Responsibilities
Clinical site development through recruitment and maintenance.
Manage Clinical Site Inventory by regularly updating the changes on clinical site personnel and preceptors. Regularly recruit adequate placement options for Clinical Year Students as well as Didactic Clinical Experience Students. Work with the Faculty Director of Clinical Education and clinical team faculty to identify areas of low inventory.
Attend Central Scheduling Committee meetings at University of Utah Health.
Help guide potential adjunct clinical preceptor candidates through the application process.
Assist Clinical Team Faculty with return visit planning and execution.
Delegate to other staff members as appropriate, balancing team members’ workload.
May participate in search committees for new hires in the division, including both staff and faculty roles.
Clinical preceptor relations and communication.
Trouble shooting clinical sites and preceptors as necessary.
Clinical site and preceptor vetting, utilizing programmatic policies and accreditation standards.
Leading the clinical education team in the Annual Clinical Site Evaluation process, utilizing established programmatic processes.
Data input into clinical education platforms such as Exxat, PAEA Exam Driver, and CANVAS.
Marketing and product branding for preceptor appreciation.
Assisting with events, including white coat, graduation, and preceptor CME events.
Assisting with clinical call back days and educational sessions as necessary.
Plans, develops, and establishes new programs and conferences to meet identified needs of educational and research groups.
Assesses the past performance of academic and research programs through program evaluations.
May be required to fulfill University or department teaching/research assignments.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in a related area plus three years of experience in budget, grant and program management or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required. Develops and implements program ideas into successful academic and research programs; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills also required.
